Strengthen the access to, understanding of and participation in environmental legislation

As part of its strategic imperative, the WTP's places significant focus on capacity building aimed at ensuring that every citizen’s right to a healthy environment is protected. The WTP’s capacity building initiatives seek to equip individuals, communities, governments, and organisations with the necessary knowledge and skills to participate, engage in and ensure effective environmental governance and justice. This will entail capacitating civil society to participate in the EIA (including the mining approval) process; capacitating communities (less advantaged) to participate in the EIA (including the mining approval) process; capacitating civil society by providing access to, and an understanding of environmental legislation; and promoting sustainable development through EWT’s participation in the EIA process.
